The yearly Eurobarometer on the euro area has just been published: 64% of Eurozone citizens say that “having the euro is a good thing for their country”. This is the highest level recorded since this survey exists. In all the eurozone countries except Austria, Latvia & Lithuania, the share of citizens saying “having the euro is a good thing” has risen. In all the countries except Lithuania, there are more people thinking that the euro is good thing than people thinking it is a bad thing. This is a particularly important development for the euro sovereign bond market.
