GREECE AND ECB: TIMELINE OF A CRISIS

In brief, since 2009 Greece has seen seven years of crisis, nine austerity plans, four governments, three international bailouts and three debt reduction plans(1). There have also been six new instruments of “monetary” policy, all rather unconventional in nature—SMP, LTRO, TLTRO, OMT, ABSPP and CBPP—and the gradual creation of an anti-contagion mechanism at the disposal of the ECB.
